Plague got a facelift over the weekend, becoming a shiny new Windows XP Professional box with the old ASUS 8200 Pure GeForce3 card from Earthquake to make it a better gaming rig. It still moves pretty well for a four year old computer and the GeForce upgrade will keep it alive just that much longer.

I purchased an ATI RADEON 8500LE card for less than $75 and put it in over the weekend. It felt weird not going to the NVIDIA support site for the latest video card drivers. But this card is quite a tasty treat for sure, boosting the frame rate of Quake ]I[ from around 70 FPS to over 140 FPS without any overclocking.
Bring on the gaming!
I scrounged up a bunch of cheap 10krpm SCSI drives and an array controller from Compaq, so I decided to add another array to Headcrash to store CD-ROM Images and for an excuse to mod up the HX08 case to see if I could fit nine hard drives into it while keeping the case sufficiently cooled.
Ill be modding the case this week as soon as some fans, drive rails and grilles show up from Directron.com. Pictures to come soon.
Headcrash also got the v770 video card from Plague. It now loads the title screens from server games that much quicker…
