Welcome to Plague Devastation!

This is a space dedicated to the excellent Quake 2 Mod known as Devastation. It differs from traditional quake by the addition of heavily armed and armored robot-like things called Devastators and Desecrators that a normal player can become by picking up a powerup. The game is appealing in a David v. Goliath sort of way.

Actually in more of a Swarm of Davids v. Goliath sort of way.

March 18, 2005 - New Map List

Unbelieveable that it's been a year since I've last updated this page. My how time flies. By popular request, I've updated the map list with a bunch of new maps. It's in a PAK file so all you have to do is download it, unzip it and plop it into your quake\baseq2 directory. If you already have a pak5.pak file, just change the number to something else. Get the new pak file here.

February 3, 2004 - Monthly summary

January Plague Devastation scores are up. Check 'Em out here. This month's winners are 0megaMan[APE] for the overall highest score for the month and to Entrails and puregrain for highest map averages, tied at 17. Nice work guys!

January 3, 2004 - Monthly summary

I've posted the Devastation results for December in the Devastation Logs area. Although I haven't been playing much due to real life constraints, it looks like the server still sees some action, which makes me happy. Kudos to 0megaMan[APE] for getting the highest cumulative score for December, and to Ent for maintaining the highest map average score.

October 2, 2003 - New Files Area Added

I've finally taken the time to collect all the different Devastation files and put them in a single place. They're now located in ftp.rainwalk.net/DevQ2 and they include the classic Devastation map pack, the new Plague Devastation map pack, the Plague devastation skin pack, and the Devastation mod itself.

October 1, 2003 - Monthly summary

I've posted the Devastation results for September in the Devastation Logs area. I only hosted one Thursday frag this month, and the showings suffer for it, but stuff in real life has sort of taken precedence over gaming, ya know?

Hopefully I'll be around more come October and we'll get gangloads of peeps flocking to this place...

September 16, 2003 - New Map List

I've been fragging on the ztn2dm for far too long, so I decided to change things up on Plague with a new map list. Pick it up here. The list of maps is:

bsol.bsp
card2dm1.bsp
dld.bsp
fragtwn8.bsp
grdm1.bsp
grngaunt.bsp
ikdm9.bsp
jamemait.bsp
nedhyst.bsp
tltf.bsp
trdm04a.bsp
q2dm1.bsp

This collection includes some maps for eye-candy, otheres for perceived playability and others because they just seemed cool. I don't know how they'll play, so if you have a comment, tell me about it in the DevQ2 Forums.

September 5, 2003 - Thursday Night Frag results

So I was doing just fine last night, in a grove and holding my own when an earthquake hits, screwing with my game. I had to leave after only a few maps due to circumstances beyond my control. Peeps played without me, though, fragging for about two and a half hours. With no Ent, BeerBuzz showed up to take the win:

September 3, 2003 - Monthly summary

I've added a new section in the column to the left called Devastation Logs where I will be putting up the results of the previous month's fragging. To get on the list you must have a positive score on at least one map during the month.

I have broken down the scores into a cumulative total of the players score. I've also made a table of the per map averages to determine the most consistent player. Looks like Ent owned in August!

August 7, 2003 - Frag results

Tonight's scheduled fest is done and I got pwned! We played for eight maps, or about two hours. Thanks to Section8, Ent, Mike Hawk and Lupin-The-3RD for showing up and making the first scheduled game a good one. Man, I'd forgotten just how fun this game is.

Ent pretty much served up a healthy dose of beatdown and schooled everyone on how Devastation is supposed to be played. In the beginning it was Me v. Ent, and it was never close. ever. Then people started popping onto the server, and things loosened up, erupting into a massive firefight. Good times!

If you were there, talk about it in the Plague Devastation Forums. If you weren't, head over there and ask about it! You can also download some demos of Ent owning the rest of us here.

Details.

For now, there is a max player cap of 8 peeps, which should be sufficient, but I'm happy to boost it should the need arise.

I also set up an anonymous FTP directory so peeps who so choose can upload their favorite skin. After I review it for validity (no one-pixel skins, please!) I'll put it into the server and add it to the Plague zip file.

The Plague Devastation server.

The server that Plague DevQ2 runs on is based around an Athlon XP1600+ (1.4GHz) processor with 768 megs of RAM and four SCSI hard drives in a RAID-5 array. To see more about the server, head over to the PC Mods section or click here.
